No. of servings:

Preparation time:

Recipe ingredients and directions:

Chicken legs and thighs; legs or thighs (you decide the quantity)

Santa Maria Style Seasoning (order on-line at susieqbrands.com), no substitution

2 beers + as many as your guests require (pick your favorite)

butter, a stick or so

1 head garlic, roughly chopped

1 pasta pot (2 quart pot with steamer)

Wash and pat dry your chicken.

Coat generously with Santa Maria Style Seasoning.

Sear chicken 4-6 minutes a side over hot grill.  Don’t worry about cooking it, the next step takes care of that.

Place garlic, butter and 2 beers in the bottom of a pasta pot and bring to a boil.

Add seared chicken to top of pasta pot and steam for 30-40 minutes on high (yes it will be done).  You may steam longer if the rest of the food or your guests aren’t ready.

Plate, serve with your favorite barbeque accompaniments and enjoy.

Recipe anecdote:    This recipe is a classic for family barbeques in the Santa Maria-________ area in California.  According to Greg, the chicken must be seared over coals of California red oak.  Good luck finding it here!  Our family has found that coals of any kind work well.  Gas barbeques can be troublesome so don’t bother.

The best part of this recipe is it requires no measuring of any kind.  Yes, even your 5 year old can be a great help.  Just keep ‘em away from the fire.
