Recipe ingredients and directions:

 

Mix together and set aside:

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup canola oil

1 cup sugar

2 egg yolks

 

Sift together:

2 cups flour

1 cup sugar

½ tsp salt

1 tbs baking soda

 

Mix together:

1 cup boiling water

½ cup powdered cocoa

 

Add cocoa mixture to the liquid mix and then to dry ingredients.  Mix.

 

Grease 9” x 13” pan.  Pour in above mix and bake at 350° for 40 minutes.

 

Frost while still warm but not hot.

Melt ¼ cup butter or oleo

Add 1-1/2 tbs cocoa

2 cups powdered sugar

½ tsp vanilla

2 to 2-1/2 tbs milk (just to spreading consistency)
